ChiChi 'Dramatic' Palette : Review & Swatches

2/08/2014

Hey lovelies :)
This is my first real post- yay!
So to you guys that follow my nail/art makeup I made a post a while ago about the ChiChi 'Dramatic' Palette, which I picked up on boxing day.
I own around 30 of ChiChi's nail polishes, mainly crackle polishes which I LOVE, and I've never tried any of their actual cosmetics so I thought why not try some? So I bought this palette, and the 'Bases' palette, which I'll make another 'swatches and review' post on. I didn't buy the 'Nudes' palette because literally everyone in Australia has bought it because it's like the Australian dupe of the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay, and this palette (as well as the Bases) haven't been reviewed by anyone yet, so I thought I might for people who were thinking to buy these palettes!

Swatches:

Sorry for the slightly dodgy swatches, my camera just wouldn't focus properly! I'll just tell you guys a bit more about the shadows and their finishes+textures. They are un-named (which I dislike) so I'll just number them.

1. A gorgeous deep dark black - reminds me a lot of Urban Decay's 'Blackout'. It has a matte finish which I love and it's perfect for lining your eyes without the 'harshness' of a pencil. One of my faves.
2. A dark shimmery grey with fine silver glitter.
3. Another shimmery grey, slightly lighter than '2' without the silvery glitter.
4. A very slightly shimmery light grey.
5. A  slightly shimmery white shadow, great for highlighting the inner v or a shadow base.
6. A pale very sheer matte purple.
7. Another matte purple, darker than '6'. A really pretty colour for a smokey eye.
8. Perfect bright purple, really pigmented and bright. Has a little bit of small pink glitter. Another one of my faves in this palette, it was the colour that caught my eye most when I was buying this!
9. Lovely copper shimmery shadow with a bit of an orangier-yellowy undertone. SUPER pigmented, my definite favourite.
10. A warm golden colour, shimmery.
11. A cool brown with a red undertone, with a hint of shimmer.
12. Reminds me of Urban Decay's 'Blackheart', a unique dark burgundy with fine red sparkles.

Likes:
  • Good texture
  • Quite blendable
  • Great mix of colours
  • Lovely mix between matte and shimmer shades
  • Packaging
  • Price
Dislikes:
  • Those little spongy applicators! I've always disliked them coming with eyeshadow palettes- why can't they include a brush?! I swear the only thing they're good for is really nail art!
  • Shadows are 'un-named'.
Overall: I do love this palette, and I think you get what you pay for in terms of quality and just everything.

Although I did get this on Boxing Day, it wasn't on sale, but for a price of $23 , from Myer, I think it's pretty good. It does go on sale sometimes though.

After trying this I think I might go buy some more stuff from Chi Chi, have you guys tried any of their products? What do you think?

I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Til my next post, Kristen x
